The English Department of National Kaohsiung Normal University invites applications for one
full-time tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor or above. The starting date is
August 1st, 2023. The deadline for submission of the application materials is February 18, 2023
(documents postmarked later will not be accepted).
I. Fields of specialization:
- TESOL/ TEFL/ Teaching Methodology;
- Linguistics;
- English/American literature.
Notes:
a. If you have expertise/experience in ESP, language testing & evaluation, Pre-Modern Literature (from
Old English to Renaissance), please specify on the application form.
b. Research plans from NSTC/MOE/other institutes/academia and industry collaboration within 5
years (if applicable).
c. Native English proficiency is preferred.
d. Second foreign language(s) (other than English) ability is welcome.
II. Requirements and conditions:
- all faculty members, irrespective of specialism, are required to contribute to the instruction of fundamental
undergraduate courses (composition, listening & speaking, pronunciation, or sim.), supervising graduate
thesises, teacher training guidance, and assist with administrative duties.
III. To apply for the position, the applicants have to submit the following materials:
1. application form (downloadable from the English Department website);
2. updated curriculum vitae (including an autobiography, list of publications, research & teaching plan);
3. photocopies of Ph.D. and MA diplomas;
4. photocopy of MOE teacher certificate (if any);
5. transcripts from graduate-study courses;
6. syllabi on courses taught (including any recent teaching evaluations within 2 years) and courses to be
offered
7. sample of publications (ideally, a recent article published in a peer-reviewed journal; articles under
review are not acceptable);
8. two recommendation letters (unsolicited letters of recommendation will not be accepted);
9. Ph.D. dissertation;
10. photocopy of ARC or other type of ROC identification document (if applicable);
IV. Other information:
- The application materials will not be returned. All candidates will be notified about the results of the search
by Email. An interview, which will also include a teaching demonstration, will be arranged for the short-listed
candidates around the middle of March, 2023.
